Battersea on look out for best dressed pooch

If you own a dog and you love fancy dress then come along to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home’s Annual Reunion on Sunday 12 September and take part in the hugely popular Fancy Dress competition. Could your pooch be the best dressed in town?

As well finding the most creative fancy dress outfit, the charity, which this year celebrates its 150th anniversary will also be scouting for Prettiest Bitch, Handsomest Dog, Waggiest Tail and Best Battersea Dog.

On top of the fun doggie contests there will be entertaining games for you and your furry friend to try, including Temptation Alley, Scurry and Retrieve. And if that’s not enough, stars of Britain’s Got Talent, Jackie Prescott and her Battersea dog Tippy Toes will be entertaining the crowds with their famous doggie dancing routine.

If you’re thinking about extending your canine clan then come along and meet some of Battersea’s long-stay dogs and see if you can offer a loving new home to a deserving pooch.

There will be plenty for humans to enjoy too, including kids’ games, refreshments, tombolas, a fun fair and trade stalls selling accessories for you and your dog. Microchipping and pet tag engraving services will also be available.

The day will conclude with a Battersea Birthday Celebration, which will include cutting of a dog-friendly 150th birthday cake for all to enjoy.

The Annual Reunion will take place in the stunning Battersea Park, next to the Home’s main site in London. The event is open from 11am to 4.30pm and entrance is free. Classes cost £2 per entry.
